Ira Khan-Nupur Shikare Wedding: Aamir Khan To Sing On His Daughter’s Special Day; Couple To Have A Registered Marriage
Nikhat Khan Hegde has opened up Ira Khan and Nupur Shikhare’s wedding and revealed that they will be doing a registered marriage instead of a Maharashtrian style wedding
Bollywood actor Aamir Khan’s darling daughter Ira Khan is all set to tie the knot with her longtime boyfriend Nupur Shikhare. The celebrations of the same have already begun and videos of the women in the family draped in navari sarees surfaced on the internet on Tuesday afternoon. The actor’s ex-wives Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao looked elated as they entered the venue. Now, the bride-to-be’s aunt Nikhat Khan Hegde has spilled some beans on the upcoming wedding.
In a conversation with ETimes, Nikhat revealed that the mehendi ceremony was held at the celebrity fitness coach’s house on Tuesday. They had decided to wear traditional Maharashtrian ensembles, ‘navari with a big nath’. She went on to add that the 58-year-old actor has been learning to sing that he will perform during his daughter’s sangeet. Quoted by Pinkvilla, she said, “It will be a more casual sangeet; we will be playing dhol and singing all wedding songs. Aamir is learning to sing as well. However, for the wedding songs, it is only the ladies who will be performing. Our family from Banaras, Lucknow and Delhi have come. During her interview, she also revealed that instead of going through traditional Maharashtrian rituals for their wedding, the couple will tie the knot in a registered marriage after which they will head to Udaipur. Shedding light on the Udaipur plan, Hegde revealed that it is for the couple’s friends and the family members with be going with them. It was back in August, Ira had revealed her wedding date during an interview with ETimes. Talking about their plans to tie the knot on January 3, she had said, “We know that we want to get married on January 3, but which year... we haven’t decided on that. January 3 is very special for us as that’s the date when we first kissed.”
For those who don’t know, Nupur is a fitness coach, who has trained Bollywood celebrities like Sushmita Sen and Aamir Khan. On the other hand, Ira made her directorial debut in 2019 with the stage production ‘Euripides' Medea,’ an adaptation of Euripides' Greek tragedy Medea. Apart from this, she also launched Agastu Foundation, which aims to help and support people battling with mental health issues.
